The magic carpets got their modern embodiment a long time ago. Now Danish architects invented the technological interpretation of another fairy-tale attribute – hut on chicken legs. In the near future according to the new plan walking houses will be constructed.

The plan of the buildings that will move on their 6 lower mechanical extremities was designed by a non-commercial artistic group named N55. The purpose of their new invention is to change artificially the habitat of a person, who is forced to live in one and the same place.

The architects and the designers of the group themselves – there are four people – live together in a small one-roomed flat in the centre of Copenhagen, which at the same time represents their office.

The “walking house” has one ton in weight and consists of just a single room: 2,3 m in height, 2,4 m in width and 8 m long. According to the words of the authors of the plan four people can live on such a modest living area.

The house will move with the help of 12 motors that will enable it to stretch “legs” in order to go up or even to overstep the obstacles. The speed of a house like this will be, of course, quite a limited one – no more than 5 km/h, yet it will be able to move both within the bounds of the city and outside its limits, not causing any damages to the nature and environment.

While using such a method of movement the harmful emissions are absolutely excluded. The house equipment will be supplied by the natural resources: solar batteries and wind turbines. There will be all the necessary conveniences inside the house: bathroom and even a stove running on the firewood.
