The rating of the gender equality of rights in different countries. |
The World Economic Forum submitted the annual report concerning the gender equality of rights in the world in Geneva ("Global Gender Gap Report").
The present report analyzes the socio-economic characteristics of 128 countries of the world (90% of the population of the Earth). The greatest gender equality of rights was discovered in Sweden, Norway, Finland and Iceland. These countries owe their success to the decreased gap between the salaries of men and women. According to the results of the investigation, Sweden has taken the premier place.
“Free” democratic USA has taken only the 31st place in the rating. Russia has found itself on the 45th place. Belorussia has become the “gender leader” of the Eastern Slavs – it has taken the 23rd place.
According to the report data, all the countries that got into the top twenty made a great stride forward in the gender equality matter in comparison with the previous year. The greatest progress in this matter was observed in Latvia (13th place) and Lithuania (14th place). They have risen up to the 6th and 7th positions, accordingly. As it is mentioned in the report, salary and women’s labor conditions have been considerably improved in these countries in particular.
The access to education and health care has been almost equalized in the world, but equality in politics and economics is still a long way off.
As a resume, the authors of the investigation point out that the complete equality of rights between men and women has not been achieved in any place of the world yet.
The top ten of gender equality leaders looks like this:
1. Sweden
2. Norway
3. Finland
4. Iceland
5. New Zealand
6. The Philippines
7. Germany
8. Denmark
9. Ireland
10. Spain
