The three travelers, who had lost in mountains of the Grampians National Park of Australia, were saved due to their mobile telephones with built in qualitative cameras.
A 46-year old man was traveling in the park with his 14-year old son and a niece of the same age. Soon the tourists discovered that they had lost. They contacted the park supervisors by means of a mobile telephone, but failed to describe the locality precisely enough. After that one of the lost persons had the idea of shooting the surrounding scenery and sending the shot to security personnel to orient themselves.
Judging by the shots, the park personnel rather quickly realized where they had to look for the tourists; and a police helicopter was sent to the designated place. The family has been successfully brought home.
According to the inspector Martin Dorman, the shot made by the smart travelers and sent to the security personnel by means of an SMS invaluably facilitated their rescue. Due to the shot the lost tourists were found after only several hours. In case there had been no shot, the search might have taken about a week.
