| The well-known Chinese festival "Ice and Snow" has established a record this year: in Harbin the grandiose snow sculpture of the unusual sizes was raised, its height is 34,5 m. and length is 197 m. The impressing composition which has received the name " Romantic feelings ", was made out of fifteen blocks of natural ice taken from the Songhua river running nearby. The ensemble has added a lot of other ice beauties, among which are Russian churches and French cathedrals, Chinese palaces and the Athenian Acropolis. In honor of the Great Britain - hostess of the Olympic Games 2012 - the ice Stonehenge was also built here, writes The Daily Mail. Harbin was always famous for its severe frosts (-35 degrees Celsius is the usual winter temperature here), this is why the ice magnificence will be pleasant to the eye for a long time. According to the least estimates, not less than 800 thousand tourists will come to admire the creation of the Chinese sculptors. |
