European tourists are not so different from one another, as it was considered earlier. The stereotypes about the exacting British, the economical Dutch and the stay-at-home Italians, has gradually become old-fashioned.
According to research carried out by the hotel company NH Hotels in 5 countries - Spain, Italy, Great Britain, Germany and the Netherlands - The Germans present the best example of an average European tourist. The British lead in hotel reservations via internet, while the Spaniards and the Italians use this method quite seldom. By the way, because of the growing popularity of internet reservations, NH Hotels update their site more often.
For the British and Germans, unlike the Dutch, the possibility to cancel the reservation without charges, is very important. One stereotype, however, is truthful - namely the British (82%) more than others appreciate the presence of a teapot in their room. So the traditional "five o'clock" remains obligatory for them. |
