British Tourist Authority ‘VisitBritain’ puts wise about the preliminary statistical data on the visitation of Great Britain in the year 2007, provided by the International passenger survey. It should be confirmed after the verification by the Office for National Statistics.
As it was initially estimated, in the year 2007 Great Britain was visited by 32.88 million of foreign citizens, which is a record index, exceeding the results of the year 2006 by 1%. The British had calculated that at average, during the year there is one foreigner coming to the island every second. The leaders in visiting have become the visitors from EU countries and accession countries; their increase is 1% and 6% correspondingly. The number of the North American citizens that visited Great Britain has decreased at 6% and the indexes of visitations from other countries of the world have remained unchanged.
In the year 2007 the combined expenses of the foreign citizens in Great Britain comprised £16.3 billions, which is by 2% more than the index of the year 2006.
Thus, the year 2007 has become a very successful one for the tourist industry in Great Britain, because there was set up a record on the visiting and expenses during the visitation of the United Kingdom. |
