The Most Dangerous Roads are in Hungary |
The rating of EU countries, having the safest roads was published recently by the European Transport Safety Council. According to this research, the safest roads are in Switzerland, and the most dangerous ones – on the territory of Hungary.
Does this mean that Hungarian authorities should sound the alarm, and in Switzerland they should draw new tourist leaflets with the note: “the country with the safest roads?” Of course, not. The research has only touched upon 8% of the total number of deaths on the roads in all of the 19 countries included in the rating. All these road accidents have happened on the highways “with the two-way traffic, having at least two lanes for each direction, a separation curb or a central reserve, the drives in and out of the lay of line marked with signs, multi-level junctions not intersecting with the other lays of lines on the same levels and without zones for transport stop.” That is the roads where the pedestrians can appear with the same probability as a meteorite. |
