The authorities of Great Britain decided to introduce a language test for newly arrived brides and bridegrooms. Now, those, who come to this country specially for getting married or for getting the citizenship, will have to take examination on the English language. It was announced by the prime minister of the country, Gordon Brown.

In this way the authorities will see to it that all the citizens of the British society would be able to understand each other and to express themselves in the official language. According to the new rules, those, who are going to get the citizenship of Great Britain, will have to prove their understanding of the British reality and the English language and to prove their ability to pay taxes. This innovation will help to watch over the amount of immigrants and, as far as possible, to reduce the stream of newcomers.

The government has assumed such measures because after the expansion of the EU, more and more foreigners who don't speak English, work in British schools and hospitals. This situation is complicating the life of common, obedient citizens. Now, according to Gordon Brown, the British citizenship not only will guarantee the rights but also will impose obligations. Foreigners also will have to pay a bigger amount for the application for getting the citizenship. Especially it will concern those who have children or elderly relatives.
