On Thursday in the British capital there will start a six-day ‘East’ festival, intended to cover more than 400 events in the world of art, cinema, theater, cuisine and fashion, glorifying the East and Eastern London.
“Visual arts, performances, history, cinema, food and fashion – all these are the elements of the ‘East’, the festival, which overcomes all the geographical distances and all the bounds of arts in the inventively richest London’s quarter – the Whitechapel, Hackney, Spitalfields, Stratford, Canary Wharf, Barbican – up to the very border of the City. ‘East’ will tell the story of the great holiday – the city itself” – told the London’s town’s hall officer.
The festival is held the second year running, and that is why one can say that the chime-ringing in honor of its opening has already become a tradition. The bell-ringers of the most famous churches of the East London are going to take the fancy of the citizens and numerous tourists.
One of the main stages of the festival will be the “Barbican” concert hall. Namely to this hall the Royal Theater of Stratford will bring its unique reggae musical ‘The Harder They Come.’ Also in “Barbican” one will have the possibility to see the rare movies, dedicated to the East in its most unexpected manifestations. |
