Britain will build ecologically clean towns. |
Up to five ecologically clean towns are planned to be built till 2016 and another 10 of these till 2020 in Great Britain. Their population will be from 5 till 20 thousands of people and they will be linked with the big cities.
On the roads that will lead to the new towns there will be a speed limit of 15 miles per hour. This limit, among the other suggestions is directed towards the minimization of the negative influence on the ecology of the new dwellings. There will be no cars on the central streets of the new "clean" towns, inform the governmental sources. The ministers also plan to reduce the usage of the cars in the new towns, supplying them with a significant amount of the public transport. The developers have submitted more than 50 of the applications for the creation of the clean cities. Till the end of this week the minister Caroline Flint will announce the standards that these towns should comply with. The announcement date for the list of the new 10 towns is not known yet, but it is expected that this will happen in the next few weeks. It is expected that the developers will have the requirement that every house in the ecologically clean towns will be located in 400 meters from the public transport stop and in 800 meters from the shops. |
