New sight of Paris - Informatics Museum |
The "prehistoric" computers of the middle of the last age are exposed in the first European Informatics Museum that has more than 200 unique items. The museum is located in the business district of the French capital - Defense - at the top floor of the Arc - the most famous building of the quarter that is the modern variation of the Triumphal Arc.
The visitors can for example visit a usual computer hall of the 1960-s, where a device is located, which calculative abilities are comparable with the power of a modern cellphone. Under the glass is located the first in the history microcomputer - the French Micral of the year 1973. But the most valuable item is the American supercomputer Cray of the 1980. It weighted one and half tons, cost $15 millions and worked slower as the usual modern personal computer. Separate expositions are dedicated to the history of the Internet and artistic usage of computers.
The museum is open every day from Monday till Sunday from 10:00 till 19:00. The cost of the tickets is 9 euro for the adults and 7,5 euro for the children. |
