Maple syrup season in Canada |
Maple syrup - is the national pride of Canada - the dense sweet spring juice of the Canadian sugar maple without additives. During this time of the year there are tours along the places full with sugar maple, people eat lots of pancakes with maple syrup and one local brewery even offers the unique maple beer.
In Carleton - not far away from Ottawa - in the Heritage Brewing brewery, they use maple juice instead of water to brew the Maple Bush Lager beer. "Beer can be from year to year more or less sweet or dry - this depends on the sugar part in the maple juice this season. This beer has the maple aroma, it is non-transparent because of the sugar and has the rich amber color of the maple syrup", tell the brewers.
Such beer can be made only during the spring months - also as the other local beers. For example for the St. Valentine's Day they make there the Passion Brew - with the use of the Passion Fruits - Marracuja.
Besides - the maple syrup season can be celebrated in the Crowne Plaza hotel, where a special menu is prepared for this period. They offer the blue cheese with the "rokula" salad and the roasted nuts with maple syrup; chicken, stuffed with Oka cheese and a biscuit covered with maple syrup. |
