A questionnaire carried out by AmericInn among 2 000 occasionally chosen dwellers manifested that in 40% of cases the noise resulted from quarrels and parties from the neighbor room irritated most of all. One third of the respondents answered that is was bothered by over-much vociferous couples.
Among other disturbing noises there were enumerated: noise of flowing water and other noises of bathrooms (26%), boring rumble of repair works (13%), sounds of cough and vomits (12%), snoring, hiccough and belch (11%). A lower percentage of interviewed complained at the noise of functioning TV-set, railway knocking and loud music.
It is rather interesting that only 44 % of those who suffered from disturbing sounds addressed the administrators or managers of the hotels; 20 % tried to calm down their neighbors making even much noise; and about 20% just put plugs in the ears or dug with their ears into pillows; the remaining 18% just took it and did not undertake anything. |
