French winter sales shall begin on 9 January at 8 o’clock in the morning and last till 19 February. In order to attract tourists’ attention to the sales season, a special action “Soldes by Paris” shall be held from 9 to 20 January in Paris supported by the Mayor’s office and tourist agencies. During this period many hotels and restaurants shall present their special offers to the city guests. Special brochures published by the beginning of the sales provide five “promenade” routes, from ultra-modern to romantic ones, with exact addresses of boutiques, cafes and restaurants, as well as their working hours.

Each French region establishes its own exact end-dates of big sales. In Paris sales shall last till 16 February, in mountain-ski resorts – till 19 February, on the Cote d'-Azur – till 9 February.
