The more northern the country’s location is, the more chances to be called Santa's homeland or at least a place regularly visited by him transiently the country has. On the threshold of Christmas and the New Year holidays the number of witnesses who claim to have seen an old man in the red caftan with their own eyes increases.
Apparently, Santa took the fancy of the Canadian city of Toronto. Otherwise, how can be explained the fact that he has been riding through the city streets accompanied by the whole his suite for more than a century?
For the first time it happened in 1905 when it was rumoured that during his world tour Santa Claus would definitely visit the shop “Fatons” situated in the city of Toronto. The rumour was picked by the newspapers, as a result of which at the specified date people filled the streets and admired the procession moving from the station to the shop headed by Santa Claus.
After a number of years a successful promotional action carried out by the owners of the shop “Fatons” turned into one of the major sights of Toronto. An entire session of individually decorated cars, wagons and caravans drives along the streets.
They transport Santa Claus himself and his numerous suite: trumpeters, heralds, elves, fairy tale characters, animals, clowns, jugglers and other characters whose arrival is enthusiastically greeted by the city citizens and tourists who had come to enjoy the performance. |
