Hotels of Delhi and Mumbai are booked out |
If you plan to travel on business in Delhi or Mumbai (Bombay) in the near future, it is worth thinking over: the hotels of these megalopolises are all booked up. Businessmen and tourists are recommended to find alternative variants of accommodation beforehand.
Majority of five-star hotels are totally reserved till Match, 2008. Average annual occupancy of hotels increased to 90%, what was higher by 10-20% of last year rate.
Because of the rapid demand growth for hotel rooms, many hotels increase the tariff for accommodation. The average cost of a standard room increased from last year’s 10-12 to 16-18 thousand of rupees; suites are at a price of 25-30 thousand of rupees.
According to the vice-president of the Crowne Plaza, hoteliers raised the prices by 30-35%. The beginning of the wedding season aggravates the already difficult situation with the lack of vacant rooms.
The boom of the demand for hotels is caused by some reasons, among which the 30% increasing of quantity of foreign businessmen arriving in the country, should be noted in the first place. Besides, the increasing per capita income and availability of special package offers made the hotel product more attractive and salable.
It is interesting that the increasing of accommodation rate and the average cost of a room are typical not only for biggest cities. The average accommodation reached the rate 79.8% this year, and the greatest increase was shown by the luxury segment – rich and luxurious hotels. |
