On the 21st of December Slovakia, Slovenia, Poland, Czech Republic, Hungary, Latvia, Lithuania, Estonia and Malta will enter the visa-free area. At this day the barriers on the sea and land boundaries will be removed in a stately manner – on many post controls the inspection of documents will be abolished.
The holders of Schengen visas will be able to cross the borders of these countries without the preparation of supplementary documents, for the local inhabitants the presence of the passport will be sufficient. In spring the passport control in the airports will be abolished too. The Europarliament approved the decision of the Shengen expansion on the 15th of December. |
