On the 15th of November Europarliament approved the joining of 9 new nations of European Union to the Schengen visa-free zone. From the 21st of December 2007 Estonia, Latvia, Lithuania, Hungary, Poland, Czech Republic, Slovakia, Slovenia and Malta will enter the Shengen zone. From that day on the Intrashengen land and sea crossings the passport control will be removed, yet it will remain in the airports till the 29th of March inclusive.
However, while travelling via airports the Shengen rules will be applied, i.e. free movement with the Shengen (but not national) visa. Thus, the tourists have to remember: till the end of March on the internal borders the documents will be checked, but not stamped.
