The cost of consular fees to apply for a non-immigrant USA visa from the 1st of January 2008 will increase from 100 to 130 dollars, reported Press-Service of the state department in Washington.
Among the reasons for price increase, state department mentions inflation, the necessity of expenses for the new technologies and for visa protection, as well as invoices that FBI issues to the state department for the processing of the fingerprints of both hands, that are taken at the creation of the visa documents.
“Now we collect 10 fingerprints from each applying person, and the costs that FBI charges for the processing do not allow us to do this anymore”, explains press service.
“Changing 100 dollars for machine-readable visa is less than actual cost of processing non-immigrant USA visas”- stated the report.
State department reminds, that the last time the fee amount has been increased was 5 years ago – in 2002 year.
