Do not enter the first-class carriage without a ticket |
German railways (DB) demanded from the second-class passengers not to get in first-class carriages under any circumstances. The requirement applies to both boarding as well as getting off. Second-class passengers often get in a train through the first-class carriages in cases when the stop is short and the amount of people is large. Now the railway is tending to forbid this. This has caused misunderstanding and irritation of passengers.
It is known that German railways obeyed strictly the "class segregation" in trains - for example, there were such cases when they demanded an extra charge from the passengers who got in the first-class carriages instead of the second-class ones by mistake. The DB has begun a program of service improvement for the first-class passengers - since autumn they have been offered free snacks, drinks and press. This is why the railway is going to see to it that unauthorized passengers wouldn't be able to get in the first-class carriages.
