A prestigious specialized American magazine “Wine Spectator” declared the French wine “Clos des Papes” of the year of 2005 the best red wine in the world.
The experts have unanimously appreciated the high quality of grapes, ripeness of the aroma and balance of tannins. The wine containing 15% of alcohol may be aged up to 20 years. Its production price makes up 35 Euro per bottle.
The gold medal winner Paul-Vincent Avril modestly underestimates his merit in the success, “We have fertile soil and ideal climate here in Provence”. Wine has been made in the village of Chateauneuf-du-Pape since 1600. Paul-Vincent’s father, grandfather and great-grandfather were also engaged in this noble business. |
