Costa Rica opens the Latin American carnivals season

Unlike the majority of other Latin America countries, the Costa Rica carnival takes place not in February - March, but right after Christmas in last December days.

The main event of the festival in the country capital San Jose is the horses parade, taking place on the 26-th of December. The best riders at a brisk trot ride along the city streets on horseback of their decorated racers specially trained to various tricks and surprisingly elegant step.

Next day, on the 27-th of December, the horse procession is replaced by the decorated carriages parade, traditional for any carnival. The music is heard, and the whole dancing groups move on the huge platforms and simply move along the whole city, dancing in motion the inflammatory Latin American dances.

At the darkness falls, the celebration finishes with the parties that are sit-round gatherings in the Costa Rica spirit, spontaneously arising in the houses yards and directly at the streets.
